NYC - Day Two Central Park

Soon after we excited the Guggenheim we headed across the road to burn some time in central park. This lead to the discovery of a cute little bridge before we moved on down museum mile.

Day two in New York City began with a quick walk to a nearby corner restaurant where we devoured some delicious food. Despite the great taste of the food, the service was unfortunately not up to snuff, serving other customers who came in after us first and ignoring our little corner for an extended period of time.

At the time, the Guggenheim was featuring black and white Picasso, which although was quite dramatic in it's features did not strongly interest myself or any of my close friends. As a result we quickly moved on down museum mile after admiring the buildings architecture and a few of its exhibits.

NYC - Day One Traveling

So I've changed my format of my NYC picture posts since it was becoming a very long stream of pictures that was being updated every other day. I have no reposted them under different titles in order to make it a little easier to browse. Happy browsing! Don't forget to share, like and comment!

This is an old building we saw just as we crossed the border into buffalo. The bus driver told us a very interesting about how there is a herd of buffalo that graze on the hills just over the boarder. Everyday at (I think) 10:00 a.m. these buffalo were trained to switch grazing shifts with another set of buffalo. They were trained to do this and now continue to do so without the help from any humans. Although this may seem far fetched a big chunk of our bus load believed because of the very convincing way he told us. We all got a kick out of the buffalo he was speaking of once we saw them though. Anybody been over that border and seen the various different buffalo statues along the side of the highway? Yeah... that's what he was talking about. 

These are all from the first night on our little exploration of the block. Upon arrival we were the second last group to receive our room assignment and as we were waiting by the elevators we met another group who had opened there room only to find some random couple in it. After hearing the rest of our class, us included, were quite hesitant to open our rooms, a little unsure of what we would find. Sure enough we opened our room door to have the same problem, it was occupied. Thankfully though it was only a different group that had been assigned to the same room as us. I went downstairs and got a new number and finally we got settled in and then took a short walk to get a bit of a glimpse as to what was all around us.

Some of you may remember how a while back I had created a web page based off of a business project... well I just remembered doing that. I have rediscovered the link and thought I'd repost it for you guys to check out, and for those of your who helped out a bit with it, to reminisce on those interesting class periods in which I worked on it. Still wishing I had more time to play with all those online tools that you can use to create personal webpages.

Caramel Stuffed Apple Cider Cookies

A while back I went to visit my close friend in Aylmer and considering our Pinterest habits we had a great different many things we wanted to try out. The one we decided to act on was a recipe for Caramel Stuffed Apple Cider Cookies. We went out bought the ingredient and got down to the baking. We used the following recipe from the blog Scrambled Hemfruit.

The cookies were delicious once we got them off the cookie sheets, we quickly discovered what a difficult task that would be. Many of the caramel centers fell out on the first sheet leaven the cookie to be delicious however not stuffed with caramel. After a little experimentation we came to the realization that with a little twisting of the cookie top we were able to remove the entire cookie from the sheet.

We also found these cookies quite sweet, great for the little brother who kept sneaking them but not so much for those who don't like super sweet sweets. Perhaps using less sugar or apple cider mix would solve this problem. In the end we loved the cookies, completely delicious, especially when warm with a melted caramel center.

Valentine's Week

So here we are, already into February and I've barely posted since I've been back in school. Big surprise there. I will soon be posting pictures of my Valentine's day gift. Yes I already know what it is, but I have yet to see the finished product. It is associated with barn board and an old window though and I can't wait to receive it. Homemade gifts are always the best! So many exciting things happening recently. Hannah's moving to Scotland (follow her blog at http://crimson11delightpetrichor.blogspot.ca/), my brother and dad just got back from Ecuador, my older brother Tim is in Germany once again, and the adventures just continue. The next few weeks will be filled with breaks (family day followed by reading week for myself, not to mention next week will be reading week for my University roommates and friends. I have posted roughly 50 more pictures from New York so check them out... I hope to complete the rest soon, unfortunately there are many more to go through ( I can't believe I'm only halfway!)

New Year!

With the new year finally here I'm hoping to get a little more blogging completed as well as a few more projects accomplished. However looking at my long new schedule and an increase in the number of courses I will be taking this semester, the increases is looking on the shy die of things. I guess I'll have to start by finishing odd those New York Pictures. Editing here I come.
